General information

Electricity supply is the activity of selling electricity to end customers, including resale.

In accordance with the permits for the performance of electricity supply activities issued by FERK, JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. – Sarajevo has the following roles:

  • supplying end customers who have freely chosen an electricity supplier on the market, in the role of a market supplier based on a Tier II license (link to the market supply section);
  • supply of end customers who did not choose a supplier on the market, and in accordance with the Law on Electricity in the Federation of BiH, do not have the right to supply within the universal service of a public supplier, in the role of a reserve supplier based on a Tier 1 license (link to the reserve supply section);
  • supplying end customers who have not chosen a supplier on the market, and in accordance with the Law on Electricity in the Federation of BiH, they have the right to supply within the universal service of a public supplier, in the role of a public supplier based on a license of the first order (link to the public supply section).

JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. – Sarajevo has the role of public supplier and reserve supplier in accordance with the status and obligations assigned by the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on determining the public/universal service provider and reserve supplier.

From January 1st 2015, all end customers of electricity are qualified customers, thus realizing the right to free choice of suppliers on the market.

Customers of electricity from the category of household consumption, as well as small customers and customers of special social importance, who have not chosen a supplier on the market, have the right to supply electricity of prescribed or contracted quality at reasonable, economically justified, easily and clearly comparable and transparent prices within of providing the public service of electricity supply from the public supplier.

In the event that the customer does not use the right to choose his supplier, or when the supplier is not available, he has the right to be supplied with electricity by a public supplier, i.e. a backup supplier, in accordance with the rights defined by the Law on Electricity.

End customers who have the right to public electricity supply service, and used the right to choose the supplier on the market, have the right to supply from the public supplier.

The right to a supply service from a backup supplier from 01.01.2015. year have all end customers who do not have the right to public electricity supply service.

The reserve supplier is obliged, within its area of activity, to supply electricity to the final customer who is not entitled to the public electricity supply for a maximum period of 90 days if the supplier freely chosen by the final customer does not supply electricity. If the final customer who is not entitled to a public electricity supply service does not choose a supplier on the electricity market in time, he is obliged to inform the reserve supplier of his intention to use the said service at least seven days before the termination of the electricity supply contract for the reason that he has not found a new supplier.
